Frequently asked questions

Do companies in Germany need fire wardens?

Yes. Under § 10 of the German Occupational Safety and Health Act (ArbSchG), every employer must appoint employees for firefighting and evacuation. The technical rule ASR A2.2 sets a guide value of 5 % of employees with normal fire risk and requires training in theory and practice. The exact number follows from your risk assessment.

Is an English course accepted in Germany?

Yes. The content follows DGUV Information 205-023, the same as our German courses. What matters is that your fire wardens understand the training – and the certificate and attendance list are issued in German, as authorities and insurers expect.

Can employees with little German take part?

That is exactly what this course is for. We explain everything in English and show the German signs and terms your employees will see at work, such as “Feuerwehr”, “Notausgang” or “Sammelstelle”.

Part of our team prefers German. What can we do?

For on-site training, tell us when you enquire and we will plan the session accordingly. For the eLearning, you can book German and English places separately. Each group then gets its own hands-on training – both can take place on the same day, one after the other.

How often should fire warden training be repeated?

DGUV Information 205-023 recommends repeating the training every three to five years, and earlier if there are significant changes at your company.

Do you also train individuals?

No. We only work with companies and organisations. If you only need a few fire wardens, the eLearning or a joint session with other companies is usually the best option.
